19-year-old Gio Reyna has been sidelined for several months, missing out on key club and national games.
The United States men’s team and Borussia Dortmund winner have not been seen since September when he suffered a hamstring injury.
It is possible that she will continue to miss the period after her recovery and regain her strength. The question now is when Reyna will be available in the US and Dortmund.
Why is Reyna not playing for Borussia Dortmund?
Reyna has not done anything since September 2, when she suffered a hip injury during the USMNT World Cup match against El Salvador. He played the full 90 minutes of the game, but was eliminated from USMNT’s next game in the national window a few days later.
He has never been to Dortmund or the US since missing the last seven World Cup games. In addition, he has missed several Dortmund seasons, having played just three games in the first 18 Bundesliga games.
The injury has been a frustrating experience for the young winner, as they were not expected to stay out for long. Appropriately, reports in late October indicated that he was already expected to return, but this obstacles lost that first time. At that time, his team publicly the prospect of his return before the new year arrives, but that too has not happened.
When will Reyna return to Borussia Dortmund?
It has not been determined how soon Reyna will return to Dortmund, but it is likely that he will return after February 2, when USMNT plays Honduras.
Dortmund will play Bayer Leverkusen on February 6, then Union Berlin on February 13, so Reyna can feature in each of the games. Even if he does return to the course at the time, exercise can prolong his resting time.
🎙 Marco Rose:
“Manuel Akanji is the option, he has recovered from surgery. We have to see how he does under pressure, but he looks good. Reyna is not taking part this week, and Guerreiro has not studied yet.”

Reyna has had several false positives since her injury, which turned out to be worse than she initially feared. The American wore the Dortmund match against Eintracht Frankfurt on January 8 but did not participate.
Then, in preparation for Dortmund’s game against Freiburg six days later, coach Marco Rose said that although Reyna was “on the right track”, he was not yet ready to get back on track.
What game can Reyna miss?
Following Friday’s clash with Freiburg, Dortmund have two more games before the international break – the DFB-Pokal game against the second team St. Louis. Pauli on January 18, including a Bundesliga match against Hoffenheim on January 22nd.
It is expected that Reyna will not be part of the team that USMNT boss Gregg Berhalter will feature in the upcoming three World Cup matches, which will take place on January 27, 30, and February 2 against El Salvador, Canada, and Honduras respectively.
As soon as the players return to Germany to resume the club season, the aforementioned match against Bayer Leverkusen and Union Berlin until early February is the next game. There is a big Europa League knockout stage match against the Rangers on February 17 ahead of the tough Bundesliga game against Gladbach against them on February 20. If his injury keeps him from going any further than that, the season is a good one and Reyna’s real loss.
