WASHINGTON (Reuters) – AT&T Inc. led advertisers to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) 5G spectrum selling 3.45 GHz band spectrum, and won $ 9 billion in advertising, a U.S. regulator said Friday.
The sale raised $ 22.5 billion total, the FCC said. T-Mobile won $ 2.9 billion while Weminuche LLC won $ 7.3 billion, which some FCC experts and sources suggest they are asking for instead of Dish. Dish, who did not respond immediately on Friday, confirmed in November that he had participated in the market.
AT&T (NYSE 🙂 declined to comment.
US Cellular won $ 580 million in advertising.
The FCC says that more than a third of the 100 major markets have at least four winners, more than the previous sales. The proliferation and distribution of winners “increased competition by providing a wide range of wireless carriers with the midband spectrum needed to maintain American leadership in 5G,” it said.
“Supporting the use of this type of trade is essential for the United States to continue the economic recovery and leadership of 5G,” said FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel.
